<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> (3) To prevent the introduction of pollutants <br /> into the City wastewater system which <br /> will interfere with the operation of the <br /> system or contaminate the resulting <br /> sludge; <br /> (4) To prevent the introduction of pollutants <br /> into the municipal wastewater system <br /> which will pass through the system, <br /> inadequately treated, into the receiving <br /> waters or the atmosphere or otherwise be <br /> incompatible with the system; <br /> (5) To improve the opportunity to recycle and <br /> reclaim wastewater and sludges from the <br /> system; and, <br /> (6) To provide for the equitable distribution <br /> of the cost of the municipal wastewater <br /> system. <br /> <br /> (7) To prevent the introduction of pollutants <br /> into or adjacent to the waters of the <br /> State of Texas within the City and its <br /> jurisdiction. <br /> (8) To monitar and regulate the generation <br /> and disposal of industrial and hazardous <br /> wastes. <br /> <br /> (9) To prevent the disposal of wastes within <br /> the City and its jurisdiction in a manner <br /> which causes a hazard to human health or <br /> the environment or creates a public <br /> nuisance. <br /> (b) It is the intent of the City to provide needed <br /> sewer service to all. users while meeting the <br /> outlined objectives. This article provides the <br /> structure under which the service will be provided <br /> for certain types of nondomestic wastes, domestic <br /> wastes and industrial wastes, so that the POTW and <br /> the environment are protected and the POTW can <br /> continue to provide efficiently for the waste <br /> treatment needs of the City. <br /> Sec. 34-53. Abbreviations. <br /> The following abbreviations used in this <br /> article shall have the designated meanings: <br /> BODS - Five (5) Day Biochemical Oxygen <br /> Demand <br /> <br /> CERCLA - Compreherisive Environmental Response, <br /> Compensation, and Liability Act <br /> <br /> CFR - Code of Federal Regulations <br /> COD - Chemical Oxygen Demand <br /> <br /> CWF - Combined Wastestream Formula <br /> <br /> EPA - Environmental Protection Agency <br /> 1 - Liter <br /> <br /> mg - Milligrams <br /> <br /> mg/1 - Milligrams per Liter <br /> <br /> -2- <br />
