<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> "BackfZow Prevention Device Tester shall mean an individual that has been <br /> certified in accordance with TNRCC rules for the purpose of testing backflow <br /> prevention devices: <br /> <br /> "(a) General Testers shall mean those individuals who are qualified to <br /> test and repair backflow prevention devices on any domestic, commercial, <br /> industrial, or irrigation system. <br /> <br /> "(b) Fireline Testers shall mean those individuals who are approved to <br /> test only devices on firelines and are employed by an approved fireline <br /> contractor. <br /> <br /> "City shall mean the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, and its duly authorized <br /> representatives. <br /> <br /> "Chief Building Official shall mean the Chief Building Official of the City of <br /> Paris. <br /> <br /> "Confined space shall mean a space that: <br /> <br /> "(a) Is large enough and so configured that a person can bodily enter and <br /> perform assigned work; and <br /> <br /> "(b) Has limited or restricted means for entry and exit (for example: <br /> tanks, vaults, pits, and other storage areas with limited access); and <br /> <br /> <br /> "(c) Is not designed for continuous personnel occupancy. <br /> <br /> "Cross-connection shall mean any unprotected actual or potential connection or <br /> structural arrangement between a public or a consumer's potable water system and <br /> any other source or system through which it is possible to introduce into any part <br /> of the potable system any used water, industrial fluid, gas, or substance other than <br /> the intended potable water with which the system is supplied. Bypass <br /> arrangements, jumper connections, removable sections, swivel or change-over <br /> devices, and other temporary or permanent devices through which, or because of <br /> which, backflow can, or may, occur are considered to be cross-connections. <br /> <br /> "(a) The term direct cross-connection shall mean a cross-connection <br /> which is subject to both back-siphonage and back-pressure. <br /> <br /> "(b) The term indirect cross-connectzon shall mean a cross-connection <br /> which is subject to back-siphonage only. <br /> <br /> "Cross-connection controlled shall mean a connection between a potable water <br /> system and a non-potable water system with an approved backflow prevention <br /> assembly properly installed and maintained so that it will continuously afford the <br /> protection commensurate with the degree of hazard. <br /> <br /> "Environmental Services Supervisor shall mean the Environmental Services <br /> Supervisor of the City of Paris. <br /> <br /> "Hazard, degree of, shall mean either a pollutional (non-health contamination) or <br /> health hazard and is derived from the evaluation of conditions within a system. <br /> <br /> "(a) Health hazard shall mean an actual or potential threat contamination <br /> of a physical or toxic nature to the public potable water system or <br /> consumer's potable water system that would be a danger to human health. <br /> <br /> <br /> 2 <br />
