<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> "(10) Anytime a backflow prevention device is installed in a piping system <br /> with a water heater of any type, the property owner shall be informed by <br /> the person or persons installing the device that thermal expansion will occur <br /> in a closed loop system. With a backflow device in the loop, a closed <br /> system is created, not allowing any return flow (backflow) into the City's <br /> system. <br /> <br /> "(ll) All backflow prevention devices installed in the City of Paris must <br /> comply with the following: <br /> <br /> "Summary: The purpose of this paragraph is to allow backflow prevention <br /> devices of the reduced pressure and double-check valve types. The sizes <br /> included in this paragraph are 3/4", 111, 211, 3", 411, 611, 8", and 10" devices. <br /> The devices furnished under this paragraph shall meet or exceed AWWA <br /> Standard, unless stated otherwise in the specific requirements listed below. <br /> Additionally, any device furnished under these specifications shall meet <br /> University of Southern California Foundation for Cross-Connection Control <br /> and Hydraulic Research requirements. <br /> <br /> "(A) Specific Requirements <br /> <br /> "Main Case: <br /> <br /> "The main case shall be constructed in such a manner as to <br /> allow removal of the check mechanisms from the top of the <br /> <br /> device. <br /> <br /> "Test Valves: <br /> <br /> "The device shall be equipped with test valves so that the <br /> device can be tested in the field. All test valves and fittings <br /> shall be made of a copper alloy and the valves shall be of the <br /> ball valve type. <br /> <br /> "In-Line Valves: <br /> <br /> "The in-line valves furnished under this paragraph shall be <br /> all bronze for 3/4" through 2" devices and the OS&Y <br /> resilient seat type for 3" and above, and shall meet AWWA <br /> Standard #510-92 and #511-92, or any revision thereafter, <br /> and shall be OS&Y. The valves shall be assembled one on <br /> each end of the double-check housing. <br /> <br /> "Factory Testing: <br /> <br /> "The device manufacturer shall supply factory test tag with <br /> each assembly furnished under this specification. <br /> <br /> "Identification Makings: <br /> <br /> "The device shall be marked with dry stamp or metal <br /> stamped tag identifying the following items: <br /> <br /> "(1) Brand Name <br /> "(2) Type (RP or DC) <br /> "(3) Size <br /> "(4) Model Number <br /> "(5) Direction of Flow <br /> <br /> 7 <br />
