<br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT
<br /> THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING
<br /> CHAPTER 11, ARTICLE ll, SECTION 11-43, AND ARTICLE III, SECTION 11-69, OF
<br /> SAID CODE, PROVIDING THAT EXAMINATIONS BE GIVEN BY SBCCI (SOUTHERN
<br />
<br /> BUILDING CODE CONGRESS INTERNATIONAL) AND INCREASING TIME BEFORE
<br /> TESTS MAY BE TAKEN ON THE SECOND AND THIRD TIMFS; REVISING CHAPTER
<br /> 11, ARTICLE II, BY ADDING A SECTION TO BE NUMBERED 11-50, PROVIDING
<br /> THAT THE CITY OF PARIS ONLY RECIPROCATE ELECTRICAL LICENSES WITH
<br /> THO5E CITIES THAT ARE MEMBERS OF SBCCI; PROVIDING FOR THE REVISION
<br /> OF CHAPTER 11, ARTICLE IV, SECTION 11-91; PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF
<br /> THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1996 EDITION; REVISING CHAPTER 11,
<br /> ARTICLE IV, BY ADDING A SECTION TO BE NUMBERED 11-95, PROVIDING FOR
<br /> AN EXPLANATION OF THE LOCATION OF GROUND FAULT RECEPTACLES;
<br /> REVISING CHAPTER 11, ARTICLE IV, BY ADDING A SECTION TO BE NUMBERED
<br /> 11-99, PROVIDING A TIME PERIOD r'OR TEMPORARY FOWER POLFS; PROVIDING
<br /> NOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $2,000.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR
<br /> PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
<br /> EFFECTIVE DATE OF JUNE 1, 1997.

<br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
<br />
<br /> Section l. That Chapter 11, Article 11, Section 11 -43 of the Code of Ordinances of the
<br /> City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as
<br /> follows:
<br />
<br /> "Sec. 11-43. Examination of applicant.
<br />
<br /> "Each applicant for a license under this article shall be required to appear before
<br /> the electrical board and be examined as to his qualifications to do electrical work.
<br /> Any such applicant must inake a grade of seve»ty (70) percent on the examination
<br /> given by SBCCI (Southern Building Code Congress International) before being
<br /> entitled to receive a license. If an applicant fails to pass the examination, he shall
<br /> be entitled to a second examination after the expiration of sixty (60) days. If he
<br /> fails the second examination, a third examination shall not be had until the
<br /> expiration of six (6) months from the date of the last examination."

<br /> Section 2. That Chapter 11, Article III, Section 11-69 of the Code of Ordinances of the
<br /> City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as
<br /> follows:
<br />
<br /> "Sec. 11-69. Examination of applicant.
<br />
<br /> "Each applicant for registration under this article shall be required to appear
<br /> before the electrical board and take an examination given by SBCCI as to his
<br />
<br /> ability to do electrical work in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. An
<br /> applicant shall be required to make a grade of seve»ty (70) percent or better, before
<br /> he shall be entitled to registration as a journeyman electrician. If any applicant
<br /> fails to pass the exainination given by SBCCI, he shall be entitled to a second
<br /> examination after the expiration of sixty (60) days, and, should he fail on the
<br /> second examination, a third examination shall not be had until the expiration of six
<br /> (6) months from the date of the last examination."

<br /> Section 3. That Chapter 11, Article IiI, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris,
<br /> Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended by adding a section to be numbered 11-50 to
<br /> read as follows:
