SECTION VIII <br />TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS <br />SUMMARY OF WORK <br />1. SCOPE OF CONTRACT <br />The City of Paris, Texas has a 1.OMG, multi-column elevated water storage tank that is <br />to be rehabilitated and repainted under the terms of this contract. General information <br />on the tank is provided at the end of this document in the Engineer's Report of <br />Inspection dated January 4, 2012. Generally, the interior and exterior coatings will be <br />replaced and miscellaneous structural steel repairs will be made. The specific repairs <br />and repainting required are outlined in this Section. <br />The tank is located in the 600 block of 25th Street NE, in the City of Paris, Texas (see <br />maps in Appendix). Containment (i.e. shrouding) and lead abatement is required <br />during the exterior abrasive blasting operations to protect the environment. The <br />exterior coating system contains greater than 1% lead by weight. See Technical <br />Specification No. 35 - Lead Abatement (TS 35) in this document for lead abatement <br />requirements. A laboratory analysis of the coatings is provided at the end of this <br />document in the Appendix. <br />It shall be the responsibility of the bidders to carefully inspect the site and all pertinent <br />parts and devices on the tank to ascertain the quantity of surface preparation, necessary <br />repairs, and painting required to clean the tank properly, paint, repair, and place it back <br />into operation in accordance with these contract specifications. The information on the <br />tank provided in the Engineer's Report of Inspection is general in nature and should not <br />be relied upon to determine bid quantities or other bidding factors. <br />The Contractor shall use the materials specified, or materials of another manufacturer <br />that are deemed equal in the opinion of the Engineer to the materials specified. All <br />interior paint will conform to Standard 61 of the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) <br />and will be on the NSF approved list of inside finish materials. In the event the <br />Contractor desires to substitute the products of another manufacturer, he shall apply to <br />the Engineer in writing at least fourteen (14) days prior to the bid date requesting <br />substitution, and shall furnish with his request complete descriptive materials on the <br />products along with NSF Certification plus full manufacturers recommendations of <br />surface preparation and application. <br />2.
