considered unless received by the ENGINEER in writing at least seven days prior <br />to the established bid date. <br />5. Surfaces to receive paint: <br />A. All machinery, equipment and metal work, EXCEPT aluminum, bronze, <br />copper, lead and stainless steel. Galvanized surfaces are to be coated only <br />when so designated and proper instructions are given. <br />B. All exposed metal piping. <br />6. Operational testing of equipment, machinery, and/ or piping shall be completed <br />before application of finish painting. <br />7. Follow requirements of Section 1910.144 Safety Color Code for marking physical <br />hazards as set forth in Standards of OSHA, U. S. Department of Labor. Other <br />colors shall be selected by the Engineer Standard Color Chart. <br />8. Contractor shall furnish to paint manufacturer or its vendor representative a <br />takeoff of areas to be painted showing square footage's to be coated with each <br />designated generic type paint. Based on this data, vendor shall certify that <br />Contractor has purchased sufficient quantities of the specified paint materials to <br />obtain desired film thickness as required in the painting schedule. <br />9. All materials and workmanship shall be guaranteed for a period of one year from <br />date of the Owner's Certificate of Acceptance. <br />20.02 WORKMANSHIP <br />Contractor shall employ only skilled workmen qualified to apply paints and finish <br />coatings. Apply paints, with approved equipment, so as to achieve even film of <br />uniform thickness, avoiding runs, sags, or other blemishes. Allow all coats of paint to <br />dry thoroughly between succeeding coats, as required by the manufacturer. Allow a <br />minimum of twelve (12) hours between successive coats. <br />Do not submerge nor bury any coated structure, nor immerse any coating until all such <br />coatings shall have (1) been brought to total specified dry film thickness and (2) shall <br />have been allowed to reach maximum cure as required for the coatings involved as <br />recommended by the paint manufacturer. <br />Apply all paints in strict accordance with the manufacturer's recommendation and <br />instruction. <br />TS20-2 <br />. . 4 <br />
