ORDINANCE N0. $4-005 AN ORDINAPZCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY ADDING ARTICLE IV TO CHAPTER 12, OF SAID CODE; PROVIDItdG FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE STANDARD FIRE PREVENTION CODE, 1982 EDITION AS REVISED BY 1983 REVISIONS; AND ESTAB- LISHING PERMIT REQUIREriENTS TO BE USED WITH THE SAME; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $1,000.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES CR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF FEBRUARY 1, 1984. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUI`;CIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That Chapter 12 of the Code of Ordi- nances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended by adding thereto Article IV which shall read as follows: '°Chapter 12. Fire Prevention and Protection Article IV, Fire Prevention Code. Section 12-151. Adopted. For the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for fire prevention relating to public safety, health and general welfare within the City of Paris and its extraterritorial jurisdiction where applicable, that certain Fire Prevention Code known as Star.dard Fire Prevention Code, 1982 Edition, as revised by 1983 revisions, save and except such portions as are deleted, modified, or amended by this article, is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein. A copy of such Code with said revisions has been and is now on file in the office of the City Clerk and the provisions thereof shall be controlling as above stated. Section 12-152. Additions. The Standard Fire Prevention Code, 1982 Edition, as revised by 1983 revisions, as adopted is hereby amended by adding the following para- graph thereto: 18.206.1. Residential Fire Alarm Installation. a. In addition to the requirements of Section 18.206, every diaelling unit henceforth constructed or placed within the City of Paris, Paris, Texas shall have fire detection devices capable of sensing products of combustion installed which are supplied by a direct con- nection to the 120 VAC electrical system. b. Alarm devices operating from a battery power source or those utilizing a cord for plug in to electrical outlets are expressly prohibited in such new construction; however, a battery power source used as a backup to 120 VAC electrical system is permitted and encouraged. c. Installation, design and operation of all residential single station alarms shall conforr.i to PdFiPA 74 and P3FiPA 72 A and shall be listed by a Pdationally accepted testing authority.
