<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Objectives of this ordinance are: <br /> <br /> a) To provide for the orderly functioning of the PQTW; <br /> b) To provide control of construction and use of the City <br /> sewer system. <br /> <br /> c) To prevent the introduction of pollutants into the City <br /> wastewater system which will interfere with the operation of <br /> the system or contaminate the resulting sludge; <br /> d) To prevent the introduction of pollutants into the municipal <br /> wastewater system which will pass through the system, <br /> inadequately treated, into the receiving waters or the <br /> atmosphere or otherwise be incompatible with the system; <br /> <br /> e) To improve the opportunity to recycle and reclaim <br /> wastewater and sludges from the system; and <br /> f) To provide for the equitable distribution of the cost of the <br /> municipal wastewater system. <br /> <br /> It is the intent of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, to provide <br /> needed sewer service to all users vUhile meeting the outlined objec- <br /> tives. This ordinance provides the structure under which the service <br /> will be provided for certain types of non-domestic wastes, domestic <br /> wastes and industrial wastes, so that the system is protected and can <br /> continue to provide efficiently for the waste treatment needs of the <br /> City of Paris, Paris, Texas. <br /> B. ABBREVIATIONS <br /> The following abbreviations shall have the designated meanings: <br /> <br /> BOD - Biochemical Oxygen Demand <br /> CFR - Code of Federal Regulations <br /> COD - Chemical Uxygen Demand <br /> EPA - Environmental Protection Agency <br /> 1 - Liter <br /> mg - Milligrams <br /> mg/1 - Milligrams per Liter <br /> NPDES- National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System <br /> POTW - Publicly Owned Treatment Works <br /> SIC - Standard Iridustrial Classification <br /> SS - Suspended Solids (same as TSS) <br /> SWDA - Solid Waste Disposal Act, 42 U.S.C. 6901, et. seq. <br /> TDWR - Texas Department of Water Resources <br /> I~S~- Total Suspended Solids <br /> USC - United States Code <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ~ <br /> G <br />
