<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> c) To prevent the introduction of pollutants into the <br /> City wastewater system which will interfere with <br /> the operation of the system or contaminate the <br /> resulting sludge; <br /> d) To prevent the introduction of pollutants into the <br /> municipal wastewater system which will pass <br /> through the system, inadequately treated, into <br /> the receiving waters or the atmosphere or <br /> otherwise be incompatible with the system; <br /> e) To improve the opportunity to recycle and reclaim <br /> wastewater and sludges from the system; and <br /> <br /> f) To provide for the equitable distribution of the <br /> cost of the municipal wastewater system. <br /> It is the intent of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, to <br /> provide needed sewer service to all users while meeting the <br /> outlined objectives. This ordinance provides the structure <br /> under which the service will be provided for certain types <br /> of non-domestic wastes, domestic wastes and industrial <br /> wastes, so that the system is protected and can continue to <br /> provide efficiently for the waste treatment needs of the City <br /> of Paris, Paris, Texas. <br /> B. ABBREVIATIONS <br /> <br /> The following abbreviations shall have the designated <br /> meanings : <br /> BOD - Biochemical Oxygen Demand <br /> CFR - Code of Federal Regulations <br /> CD - Chemical Oxygen Demand <br /> EPA - Environmental Protection Agency <br /> 1 - Liter <br /> mg - Milligrams <br /> mg/1 - Milligrams per Liter <br /> NPDES- National Pollutant Discharge Elimination <br /> System <br /> POTW - Publicly Owned Treatment Works <br /> SIC - Standard Industrial Classification <br /> SS - Suspended Solids (same as TSS) <br /> SWDA - Solid Waste Disposal Act, 42 U. S.
