City Council Meeting April 9, 2001 Page 12 it may take additional time. Councilman Bell inquired about the status of the paperless agenda. City Manager Malone reported that the computers are on order and should be delivered and that it is going to take time to configure the computers and loa d the software. He advised that an additional server will be needed if the agendas are going to be placed on the internet and allow people to receive the agenda by this means. City Manager Malone said this has not been done because the cost would be approximately $10,000.00. Mr. Malone also reported that final dates to place items on the agenda would ha ve to be scheduled earlier because of the time it takes to prepare the paperless agenda - burning the CD’s to be distributed to the City Council. The extra work required to make the agenda information available in this format and on the internet adds considerable expense and labor to the agenda process, so everything must be started earlier in the time line. There is a need for an additional high speed scanner. We only have one located in the City Clerk’s office and must have another for backup and to ensure that equipment is available to do all necessary work. The smaller scanners that the city has are too slow. City Manager Malone advised that a large scanner will be placed in the 2001-2002 budget for this purpose. There being no further business, a motion was made by Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Manning, to adjourn the meeting.
