City Council Meeting <br />April 9, 2001 <br />Page 11 <br />The City Manager reported on the Owner Occupied <br />Rehabilitation/Reconstruction Grant Program, which is under the Home <br />Program, stating that there are seven houses under construction. There <br />are three contractors building these houses at a cost of $25,000.00 per <br />house. City Manager Malone said there are eight additional houses to be <br />c onstructed later this summer under this program. He said that he has <br />received notification that the city has been recommended for a $250,000.00 <br />grant through the Texas Community Development Program to build twelve <br />more homes. <br />The Public Works Departmen t, through contract labor, has replaced <br />16,593.20 linear feet of curb and gutter and 7,406.07 feet of approaches and <br />sidewalks and driveways in preparation for the summer overlay program. <br />City Manag e r Malone advised the City Council that the city is in the <br />process of replacing 5500 feet of waterline from the 3700 Block of <br />Clarksville Street that supplies Jefferson Heights subdivision. <br />The City Manager reported that in the northwest Paris area there has been <br />th th <br />5,000 linear feet of waterlines installed on Graham Street, 10 N. W., 11 N. <br />th th <br />W., 12 N.W., 13 N. W. and West Houston Street, and with general cleanup <br />of this area, the project will be complete. <br />City Manager Malone reported on the status of the Santa Fe - Frisco Depot <br />Project, TxDOT Enhancement Grant Program, stating that the work is <br />almost complete on the roof, accomplished by utilizing the prisoners from <br />the Bonham State Jail unde r the direction of construction manager <br />Wendell Moore. He said there was approximately $200,000.00 in savings <br />achieved by using the labor from the Bonham State Jail. City staff is <br />working with the architect trying to get the plans revised and the specs will <br />go to bid sometime this summer for all the various subcontracts to do this <br />project. City Manager Malone advised that the city is planning to use the <br />prisoners to do additional work that is not part of the bid package. <br />City Manager Malone said with regard to the Salary and Wage Study, the <br />consultant has been ready to make a report for several weeks, and the city <br />is looking for some dates from the City Council in order for the consultants <br />to come and present the report. He said it is suggested that one meeting <br />with the City Council be held in order for them to go through the report <br />with the consultant, but if there are issues that need further investigation, <br />
