2.3.4. EBISTING STRUCTURES <br />All existing structures, improvements and <br />utilities shall be adequately protected, at <br />the expense of the CONTRACTOR, from damage <br />that might otherwise occur due to construction <br />operations. Where construction comes in close <br />proximity to existing structures or utilities, <br />or if it becomes necessary to move services, <br />poles, guy wires, pipe lines, or other <br />obstructions, the CONTRACTOR shall notify and <br />cooperate with the utility or structure OWNER. <br />The utility lines and other existing <br />structures shown on the plans are for <br />information only and are not guaranteed by the <br />OWNER to be complete or accurate as to <br />location and/or depth. The CONTRACTOR shall <br />be liable for damage to any utilities <br />resulting from his operation. During <br />construction, all fire hydrants, valve boxes, <br />fire or police call boxes, and other existing <br />utility controls shall be left intact, <br />unobstructed and accessible unless noted on <br />the plan. <br />(a) Relocating or Replacing Utilities. <br />Unless noted on plans that utilities are to be <br />moved by others, any cost of temporarily or <br />permanently relocating utilities shall be <br />borne by the CONTRACTOR's bid price for the <br />various items of work; and no separate payment <br />shall be made. In case damage to an existing <br />structure or utility occurs, whether such <br />damage results directly or indirectly from the <br />CONTRACTOR's operations, the CONTRACTOR shall <br />be responsible to restore the structure or <br />utility to its original condition and position <br />without extra compensation. Temporary shut <br />down of water and/or sewer services shall be <br />extend overnight, holidays or weekends. The <br />OWNER shall approve all shutdowns and may <br />assist in the shut down operations. <br />(b) Sewer House Services. Al1 house sewer <br />services damaged during construction shall be <br />replaced by reconnections, including necessary <br />adjustments to a sanitary sewer replacement, <br />shall not require the services of a master <br />plumber, if being replaced by a utility <br />CONTRACTOR; however, in all cases, repair <br />shall be inspected by the OWNER. It shall be <br />the responsibility of the CONTRACTOR to <br />maintain such services throughout the <br />construction process. <br />V <br />
