(c) Water Services. Service lines shall not <br />be removed during excavation; and the <br />CONTRACTOR shall provide adequate support for <br />the services across the open ditch. <br />(d) Interrupted Service. Cuts or breaks in <br />sewer mains and laterals, or service <br />connections, shall be restored at the earliest <br />practicable moment in order to give the least <br />possible interruption in service. The <br />CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for notifying <br />customers of temporary interruption of service <br />at least 24 hours in advance. Announcements <br />arranged with local radio stations, notice in <br />local newspaper, etc., shall be required. <br />(e) Other Utilities. All water mains, water <br />services, sanitary sewers, sanitary sewer <br />house laterals, storm sewers, power conduits, <br />gas mains, gas service laterals, and other <br />appurtenances encountered during construction <br />shall be supported or replaced as detailed on <br />the plans. <br />Where the exact depth of any utility or <br />obstruction is not shown on a plan, excavation <br />shall be made prior to reaching the <br />obstruction in order to determine adjustments <br />in grade if needed to prevent interference. <br />Redesign to eliminate conflicts may be <br />necessary. Extra compensation shall not be <br />paid for such delays. <br />When it is necessary to remove or adjust <br />another utility, a representative of that <br />utility shall be notified to decide method and <br />work to be done. The CONTRACTOR shall make <br />satisfactory arrangements with other utilities <br />for the required cutting or adjustments at the <br />CONTRACTOR's own expense, other than for items <br />that may be provided in the contract for such <br />work. No extra compensation shall be paid due <br />in delays caused by removal of public utility <br />structures. <br />(f) Street Sign Posts and Signs. The <br />CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for all damage <br />to street sign posts and signs within the <br />limits of his operations that remain in place <br />or are removed and replaced. In event street <br />sign posts and signs are damaged or destroyed <br />by the CONTRACTOR's operations, they shall be <br />replace at the CONTRACTOR's expense. <br />88 <br />
