He said that cost and options will be developed for presentation to City Council during the budget process. Gene Anderson, Director of Finance, is working on determining the carry forward balance and will be working on projecting revenues during the next few weeks. He projected the beginning of budget workshops sometime in mid July. City Manager Malone said the paychecks will go out this Friday, June 28, and on the following Friday, July 6, a one-time three percent (3%) quarterly payment will be made to cover from the last quarter through this implementation of the three percent across-the-board increase. Mayor Pfiester announced that the next item on the agenda was consideration of and action on approval of City Manager's appointment of a Fire Chief. City Manager Malone called Deputy Fire Chief Ronnie Grooms forward. Mr. Malone stated that he was pleased to submit ChiefRonnie Grooms to the City Council for their approval, in accordance with Section 23 of the City Charter, stating that he had all the qualifications and experience to be a great Fire Chief. City Manager Malone praised Fire Marshall / Assistant Chief Rick Evans who served as Chief in the interim period and stated that it was a difficult choice because all of the candidates were well qualified. A motion was made by Councilman Bell, seconded by Councilman Gray, for approval of Ronnie Grooms as Fire Chief of the Paris Fire Department. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. A motion was made by Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Manning, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays.
