Joint Meeting with the City Council and <br />Airport Advisory Board <br />June 28, 2001 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Mayor Pfiester called for discussion of and action on siting options for a new <br />animal shelter. <br /> <br />Karl Louis, Chief of Police, came forward telling the City Council that they <br />had looked at various options regarding the site for the new animal shelter. <br />Chief Louis said that he and Lieutenant Hundley had reached agreement with <br />the Red River Valley Fair Association to reduce the size of the land to be <br />removed from their lease for animal shelter use to one and one-third acres and <br />that this was acceptable to the architect and the Lamar County Human <br />Association. City Manager Malone pointed out the original site from a <br />drawing, which is located close to the rodeo arena. Chief Louis advised that <br />there will be 165 feet of frontage on Clement Road and 326 feet of frontage on <br />3rd NE, giving the city enough space to expand the animal shelter. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Manning, seconded by Councilman <br />Plata, for endorsement of the option for the new animal shelter. The motion <br />carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br /> <br />Mayor Pfiester called for discussion of the pay plan options and consideration <br />of and action on approving a three percent (3%) across the board base pay <br />increase for city employees for fiscal year 2000-2001. <br /> <br />City Manager Malone advised the City Council that there was a meeting with <br />the Administrative Staff and Patrick Simmons of Waters Consulting, Inc., to <br />discuss the salary and wage survey. It was the consensus of the group that he <br />immediately implement a three percent across-the-board pay increase for all <br />regular employees in accordance with the present budget and bring additional <br />recommendations back to the City Council in the budget process. <br /> <br />City Manager Malone said each department will be represented in this process <br />and the Administrative Staff is supportive in reaching a consensus concerning <br />the new pay plan in hopes of having it adopted, or some variation of it adopted. <br />City Manager Malone advised that Mr. Simmons will adjust his <br /> <br /> <br />
