ORDINANCE NO. 1814 . AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1495s ORDINANCE NO. 15942 AND ORDINANCE NO. 1812, BY DELETING CERTAIN PORTIONS THEREOF AND ADDING ADDITIONAL PORTIONS THERETO; DELETING FROM ORDINANCE NO. 1495 ALL OF SECTION 2 AND SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR A DIFFERENT REGULATION; C}N ORDINANCE NO. 1594, DE- LETING ALL OF SECTION 2 AND SUBSTITUTING ANOTHER SECTION THEREFOR; AND ON ORDINANCE NO. 1812a SECTION 1(a), DELETING THAT PORTION THEREOF, WHICH PROVIDES, THENCE EAST A DISTANCE OF 2.571 MILES, A SPEED LIMIT OF FIFTY (50) MILES PER HOUR, WHICH EXTENDS TO THE EAST CITY LIMIT LINE IN THE CITY OF PARIS, AND SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR, THENCE EA5T A DISTANCE OF 0, 250 MILES, A SPEED LIMIT OF FIFTY (50) MILES PER HOUR, TO THE PRESENT CITY LIMIT LINE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Sectian 1. That Ordinance No. 1495g Section 2, be amended by delet- ing therefromi alX of the following: "It shalX be unlawful for any person to operate or drive any motor or other vehicle upon the public streets of the City of Paris, Texas, at a rate of speed in excess of thirty (30) miles an hour, which maximum speed limit shall be applicable upon all the streets within said City, except as hereinafter specified and provided for certain designated streets and portions of streets." and substituting therefor: "State Speed Laws Applicable. The State traffic laws regulating the speed of vehicles P. C. 827a., Regulating operation of vehi- cles on highways, 5ection 8, Rate and speed of vehicles. ) shall be applicable upon all streets within this citya except as this ordinance, as authorized by State law (P. C. 827a? Section 8, Subsection 3. hereby declares and determines upon the basis of engineering and traffic investigation that certain speed regu- lations shall be applicable upon specified streets or in certain areas, in which event it shall be prima facie unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle at a speed in excess of any speed so declared in this ordinance when signs are in place giving notice ther eof.
