BE IT QRDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITYOF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. ENACTiNG CLAUSE. That Ordinance No. 1274, the Electrical Ordinance, passed by the City Council on November 102 1952, together wi.th alI amendmants thereto, are hereby amended in their entirety to read as follows: Section 2. TITLF, The Title of this ordinance shall be "The Paris E.lect'rical Ordinance"* and may be cited as such9 and it will be referred to in this ordinance as "this Code. " Section 3. PJRPO?.iE, The purpose of this code is the practical safeguard- ing of persons and of buildings and their contentss from electrical hazards arising from the use of electricity for light, heat, powers radio, signaling and for other purposes. Section 4. SCOPE. The provisions of this ordinance shall apply to all in- stallations of and work done on electrical conductors, fittings9 devices, motors, appliances, fixtures, signs and gaseous tubing, hereinafter referred to as "Electrical Equipment", within or on public and private buildings and premises, with exceptions as provided herein. On all installations of electrical conductors or equipment hereafter made and all existing installations wh.ich are altered9 all work shall be done in a manner that will conform wi_th the requirements for a sufficient and safe electrical system. Repair and maintenance work shall be such that if any electrical conductors or equipment are removed and later replaced, they shall be replaced in a manner which conforms with this code, 5ection 5, NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE r.~EGULATIONS ADOPTED. The Regulations laid down in the National Electrical Code as approved by the American Standards Association, for the installation of electrical wiring, de- vices and equipment, together with all subsequent amendments thereto, are hereby adopted as the minimum standard for the installation of all electrical wiring, devices and equipment of the City of Paris, Texas, except as otherwise specifically provided in this ordinance, and the same is hereby made a part of
