Cit~ of Paris Stud~ of Lake Crook March? 2001

Question: Would you be willing to pay higher water and wastewater bills to pay for th e
extension of water andwastewater utility lines to this area if developed for residential
housing?

Overwhelming opposition arose not only in the 89.4% out of 1,433 respondents but
the item drew much written commentary. General consensus of those surveyed is that
developers should pay the expenses for development. Admittedly the statement,
"would you be willing to pay... "always evokes such comments.

Question: Should the city authorize creation of a "non-profit housing development
partnership" to create "affordable" or "subsidized" housing around Lake Crook ?

93.2% of the 1,429 respondents felt strongly that the city should not create a special
housing partnership nor should they build "affordable" or "subsidized" housing
around Lake Crook.

Question: Should the city divest itself of surplus lands around the lake to the
highest bidder?

This question one would think would be more evenly divided based on the comments
received orally. However, those surveyed said the city should NOT divest itself of
property to the highest bidder by a five to one margin.

Question: Should the city continue leasing Lake Crook property to Archers for Christ,
the Maxey black Powder Rifle Club, and Paris Skeet and Trap Club, Inc. ?

Over two thirds of those surveyed said the city should continue leasing to these
entities.

Question: What are your concerns about members' of your family using any potential
park improvements at Lake Crook?

This turned out to be a discussion question and provided pages and pages of comment
by those surveyed. The following is a tabulation of the reasons given. Respondents
could circle more than one reply.
