No service pipe shall be less than 1-1/4 inch and shall be of black <br />iron pipe and all cast iron fittings are hereby prohibited. No service pipe <br />shall be smaller than that required for firea for the house to whieh it <br />leads, and shall be inclined from the street or be provided with drip <br />pocket. <br />No cement or composition of any kind shall be used to repair faulty <br />fittings unless same shall have been approved by the Board herein referred <br />to. All pipe must be securely strapped to the bottom of the joists or other <br />secure places with iron atraps or gas hooks and must incline from the <br />meter or be provided with drip pockets; no valves or unions will be per- <br />mitted to be placed between ceiling and- floor or located in such positions <br />that stuffing box or valve cannot be re-packed; no "soft seat" valves will <br />be allowed, and all valve stems must be re-packed, as factory packi.ng <br />being considered insufficient9 will not be accepted; no unions other than <br />ground joints will be allowed, as gaskets are liable to 1eak. Rubber hose <br />and lead pipe for connecting appliances are hereby prohibitedo <br />All plumbing work and gas fittings and connections whether new or <br />repair work must be tested by the City Inspector under rules and regula- <br />tions prescribed by the Board and certificate of acceptance therefor <br />issued to the owner before they shall be allowed to use same. <br />Section 3: All gas water heaters shall be vented through a flue or <br />out above the roof with a pipe the size of the heater and properly installed <br />for safety from fire. <br />Section 4. When gas meter is to be located beneath hause that is <br />inclosed, door ahall be cut so as to give free access to meter for pur- <br />poses of reading and setting and removing same and there shall be lo- <br />cated at the meter a valve for cutting off the gas in case of fire or in <br />the event the meter is removed for any purpose, <br />Section 5, All gas service lines from the street to the house sha.ll <br />not be installed in the same ditch with the aewer line leading from the <br />street to the house. The gas service line shall be installed a minimum <br />distance of two feet (21) from the sewer line. <br />Section bo Euery gas service stop cock shall be constructed of iron <br />body with brass case. <br />Section 7. All gas appliance vents shall be of the same size <br />recommended by the appliance manufacturer where two or more appliances <br />are vented into the same vent stacko The vent stack shall be increased <br />to the proper size for additional appliances more than one. <br />Section 8. All central heating units installed within the City of Paris <br />shall have a fresh air vent into the equipment room, of at least 1 square <br />inch per 1, 000 B. T., U. Rating, <br />(a) Each person, firm or corporation, before installing a central <br />heating unit within the City of Paris, shall apply to the Director of Public <br />Works to obta.in a permit for the installation of same, and shall pay the <br />same permit fee and the same inapection fee as required for other in- <br />stallations. <br />Section 9. Before inatalling or constructing any gas plumbing or <br />fixtures provided for herein, the owner or contractor sha.ll apply to the <br />Director of Public Works for a permit for the same and pay the regular <br />plumbing inspection fee for said permit. <br />
