ORDINANCE NU. 1561 . <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING OR,DINANCE NO. 1274, KNOWN AS THE <br />ELECTRICAL ORDINANCE, AND AMENDING THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL <br />CODE OF 1959, AS APPROVED BY THE AMERICAN STANDARDS ASSOCIA- <br />TION, OR ANY SUBSEQUENT AMENDMENTS HEREAFTER OF SAID <br />ELECTRICAL CODE, AND PROVIDING GERTAIN MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS <br />FOR ELECTR.ICAL WIRING WITHIN THE CITY OF PARIS; REQUIRING CER- <br />TAIN PERMITS; GIVING CERTAIN AUTHORITY TO THE ELEGTRICAL IN- <br />SPECTOR WITH REFERENCE TO ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT; PROVIDING <br />FOR A PENALTY THEREFOR; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE; <br />AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. <br />BE IT ORDAIlVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARTS: <br />That Electrical Ordinance No. 1274, passed by the City Council of the <br />Gity of Paris on the lOth day of November, 1952, and the National Electrical <br />Code of 1959 as approved by the American Sta.ndards Association, be, and <br />the same are hereby amencled as follows: <br />Section l. That no person, firm or corporation shall hereafter install <br />for residential purposes any se~vice entrance conductors with the service <br />entrance conductor smaller than #6 wire. <br />Section Z. That no person, firm or corporation shall install within the <br />City of Paris, Texas, any electric 'wiring of a smaller size wire than #12; <br />provided however that switch legs or control wires may be wired with #14 <br />wire. <br />, <br />Section 3. That no person, firm or corporation shall hereafter wire <br />any electric range ta,ble tops with less than 3#10 wire.. And no person, <br />firm or corporation shall hereafter wire any built in oven with 30 amp <br />breaker, with less than 3#10 wire. <br />Section 4. That no person, firm or corporati.on shall hereafter install <br />any electrical wiring on the outside surface of any building within the cor- <br />porate limits of the City of Paris, includ;ing a private residence, without <br />placing said wiring in an approved and properly grounded conduit. <br />Section 5. That no person, firm or corporation shall install any electri- <br />cal installations having more than two two-wire circuits without supplying the <br />same with a three wire service. <br />Section 6. That no person, firm or corporation shall hereafter install <br />any service heads at a location hatving not more than two feet from the ser- <br />vice drops, and not less than'three feet from any door, window, or other <br />opening in the building, unless specifically approved by the Electrical <br />Inspector. <br />Section 7. That no person, firm or corporation shall install any ser- <br />vice entrance switches or any service equipment within a bath room, toilet, <br />closet or cabinet. <br />Section 8. That no person, firm or corporation shall install any ser- <br />vice heads for residential purposes within less than ten feet or more than <br />twenty feet above the ground, and same shall be so situated that they shall <br />not be within reach from any porch or stair landings, and all service _head <br />insta.llations, where practical, shall afford direct unobstructed space for <br />stringing service drops without the necessity of such drops passing over <br />the property of others than the owner of the property being served. <br />
