ORDIlVANCE NO. 1563 . <br />AN OR,DINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1074, ORI?INANCE <br />NO. 1202, AND ORDINANCE NO. 1508; PROVIDING FOR A PERMIT <br />FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A SEPTIC TANK WITHIN THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION ACCORDING TO <br />PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS; PROVIDING FOR INSPECTION; AND <br />PROVIDING FOR THE VIOLATION OF SAID OR.DINANCE OR ANY SEC- <br />TION THE RE OF. <br />PA RIS: <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />Section 1. That no person, firm or corporation, their agents, <br />servants or employees, shall insta.ll any septic tank within the corporate <br />limits of the City of Paris, Texas, without the owner or contractor, <br />and/or plumber having obta.'ined a permit to insta.ll the same from the <br />Plumbing Inspector of the City of Paris, Texas. <br />Section 2. That all septic ta,nks shall be of the following design: <br />The minimum size tank to be used shall ha.ve at least 1 foot of <br />air space above the flow line. The ta,nk, or ta,nks, shall be large enough <br />to hold the sewage produced for a period of 48 hours to nhta.in the maxi- <br />mum reduction in solids. The tank may be rectangular or round. For <br />efficient operation in the use of recta.ngular ta,nks the length should be at <br />least twice, but not over three times, as great as the width. The depth <br />of the tank may vary, depending on local economic `and terrain conditions; <br />however, the depth should be at least 30 inches to the flow line. The tank <br />shall be constructed of corrosive-resista.nt, impervious material and strong <br />enough to withsta,nd the soil and hydrosta,tic loads encountered. The pipe <br />from the house to the tank shall be of case iron material and in sta,lled with <br />watertight joints, and there shall be a cleanout connection on this line. <br />Multiple compartments, or ta.nks in series, may be used if the <br />economics of the installation make this procedure attractive to the owners. <br />The compartments shall be connected at least 12 inches below the top of <br />the liquid level, and the connection may be accomplished by using slots, <br />plain-end pipes, or elbow joints. <br />If multiple compartments or tanks in series are used, each com- <br />partment or tank shall be not less than 125 gallon capacity,, and the first <br />unit shall be as large or larger than the following units.'
