GRDINANCE NO, 1495 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1326 OF THE CITY OF 1'ARIS; REGULATING THE S)EED OF MGTOR VEHICLES UPON THE STREETS IN THE CITY OF PARIS, LAMAR COUNTY, TEXAS; PRESCRIB- ING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION HEREOF; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. BE IT OR.DAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. Increasing Speed Limit in Certain Zones. It is hereby de- termined on the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the speed permitted by the laws of the Sta.te of Texas upon the streets herein- after mentioned is less than is necessary for safe operation of vehicles thereon, by reason of the designation and signposting of said streets as through highways. Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or drive any motor or other vehicle upon the public streets of the City of Paris, Texass at a rate of speed in excess of thirty (30r miles an hour, which maximum speed limit shall be applicable upon all the streets within said City, except as hereinafter specified and provided for certa.in designated streets and portions of streets. Sectinn 3. It shall be unlawful for any person to qDerate or drive any motor or other vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of that specified for the following streets and portions of streets. (a) On South Church St. (S. H. 24) northerly from the South City Limits of Paris, a distance of approxima.tely 0, 200 miles a speed limit of sixty (60) miles per hour at all times; thence northerly a distance of approxima.tely 0.413 miles a speed limit of fifty (50) rniles per hour at all times; thence northerly a distance of approxima.tely 0.200 miles a speed limit of forty (40) miles per hour at all times as evidenced by the atta.ched plan which is hereby approved and made a part hereof. (b) On Bonham St. (Uo S. 82) easterly from the West City Limits of Paris, a distance of approxima.tely 0. 650 miles a speed limit of forty-five (45) miles pe ~'.zo,Lr at all times; thence easterly a distance of approxima.tely 0.850 miles a speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour at all times as evidenced by the atta.ched plan which is hereby approved and made a part he reof. (c) On Lamar Ave. (Uo S. 82) westerly from the East City Limits of Paris, a distance of approximately 0, 499 miles a speed limit of fifty (50) miles per hour at all times; thence westerly a distance of approxima.tely 0.460 miles a speed limit of forty-five (45) miles per hour at all times; thence westerly a distance of approxima.tely 0.260 miles a speed limit of forty (40) mil e s per hour at all times; thence westerly a dista.nce of approxima.tely 0.577 miles a speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour at all times as evidenced by the atta.ched plan which is hereby approved and made a part hereof. (d) On Clarksville St. (U. So 271) westerly from the Southeast City Limits of Paris, a distance of approxima.tely 0. 300 miles a speed limit of sixty (60) miles per hour at all times; thence westerly a distance of approximately 0.631 miles a speed limit of fifty (50) miles per hour at all times; thence westerly a distance of approximately 0.397 miles a speed limit of forty (40) miles per hour at all times as evidenced by the atta.ched plan which is hereby approved and made a part hereof.
