ORDINANCE N0. 1274 CAPTION ~ AN ORDINANCE for safeguarding life and property from Xlectrica,l hazards by regula.ting and providing for the stallation of electrical wiring devices and equipment, defining the scope of ~lectrical work covered by this 4rdinance, adopting the provisions and regulations of tte National Electrical Code as a minimwn standard for the installation of Electrical Wiring, providing that Electrical wires shall be encased in metallic conduit in certain instances and installations, specifying the number of outlets allowed per circuit,providing the manner in which service entrance shall be installed, providing for the regu- lation of installing Electrical Signs, requiring a permit to do Electrical work, providing fees for Electrical Permits and Inspections, providing for the office of Electrical Inspector and defining his qualifications and duties, creating an Electrical Board and defining its duties, providing for the Licensing of Electrical Contractors, requiring the registration of Journeymen Electricians, providing a penalty, providing a saving clause, and repealing all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas in conflict with this Ordinance. SE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. Title. The title of this ordinance sha11 be "The Paris Electrical Ordinance". and may be cited as such and it will be referred to in this ordinance as "this Code". Section 2. Purpose. The purpose of this code is the practical safe- guarding of persons and of buildings anxl their corltents, from electrical hazards arising fmtn the use of electricity for light, heat, power, radio, signaling and for other purposes. Section 3. Scope. The provisions of this ordinance shall apply to all installations of and work done on electrical conductors, fittings, devices, motors, appliances, fixtures, signs and gaseous tubing, hereinafter referred to as "Electrieal Equipment", within or on public and private buildings and premises, with exceptions as provided herein. On all installations of electrical conductors or equipmerct hereafter made and all existing installations which are altered, a11 work shall be done in a manner that will conform with the requirements for a sufficient and safe electrical system. Repair and maintenance work shall b e such that if any electrical conductors or equipment are removed and later replaced., they shall be replaced in a manner which conforms with this codea Section 4. National Electrica.l Code ReAUlations Adopted. The Regulations la.id down in the National Electrical Code Qs approved by the American Standards Association, for ths installation of electrical wiring, devices and equiFxnent are hereby adopted as the minimum standard for the installation of all electrical
