ORDINANCE N0. 1274 <br />CAPTION <br />~ <br />AN ORDINANCE for safeguarding life and property from Xlectrica,l hazards <br />by regula.ting and providing for the stallation of electrical wiring devices <br />and equipment, defining the scope of ~lectrical work covered by this 4rdinance, <br />adopting the provisions and regulations of tte National Electrical Code as a <br />minimwn standard for the installation of Electrical Wiring, providing that <br />Electrical wires shall be encased in metallic conduit in certain instances and <br />installations, specifying the number of outlets allowed per circuit,providing <br />the manner in which service entrance shall be installed, providing for the regu- <br />lation of installing Electrical Signs, requiring a permit to do Electrical work, <br />providing fees for Electrical Permits and Inspections, providing for the office <br />of Electrical Inspector and defining his qualifications and duties, creating an <br />Electrical Board and defining its duties, providing for the Licensing of <br />Electrical Contractors, requiring the registration of Journeymen Electricians, <br />providing a penalty, providing a saving clause, <br />and repealing all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances of the City <br />of Paris, Texas in conflict with this Ordinance. <br />SE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. Title. The title of this ordinance sha11 be "The Paris <br />Electrical Ordinance". and may be cited as such and it will be referred to in <br />this ordinance as "this Code". <br />Section 2. Purpose. The purpose of this code is the practical safe- <br />guarding of persons and of buildings anxl their corltents, from electrical <br />hazards arising fmtn the use of electricity for light, heat, power, radio, <br />signaling and for other purposes. <br />Section 3. Scope. The provisions of this ordinance shall apply to all <br />installations of and work done on electrical conductors, fittings, devices, <br />motors, appliances, fixtures, signs and gaseous tubing, hereinafter referred <br />to as "Electrieal Equipment", within or on public and private buildings and <br />premises, with exceptions as provided herein. <br />On all installations of electrical conductors or equipmerct hereafter <br />made and all existing installations which are altered, a11 work shall be done <br />in a manner that will conform with the requirements for a sufficient and safe <br />electrical system. Repair and maintenance work shall b e such that if any <br />electrical conductors or equipment are removed and later replaced., they shall <br />be replaced in a manner which conforms with this codea <br />Section 4. National Electrica.l Code ReAUlations Adopted. The Regulations <br />la.id down in the National Electrical Code Qs approved by the American Standards <br />Association, for ths installation of electrical wiring, devices and equiFxnent <br />are hereby adopted as the minimum standard for the installation of all electrical <br />
