<br /> <br />, \ <br /> <br />"~~~A'L - <br /> <br />Paving Grand Avenue. <br /> <br />lO7 <br /> <br />CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN. <br /> <br />PAVING GRAND AVENUE. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE requiring paving, etc., on Grand Ave~uc, <br /> <br />Whereas, over two-thirds of the residents on each side of <br />Grand Avenue, betweeJI the public square and Division street, and <br />over two-thirds of the property owners on said street, between <br />said points, have petitioned the 'city council to have said street <br />paved between said points, at the sole cost and expenses' of the <br />property owners, except street crossings, therefore, <br /> <br />Be tt ordained by the city council of the city of Paris: <br /> <br />. SEC. 1. That grading, paving, curbing and guttering is here- <br />by ordered to be put in on Grand Avenue from the public square <br />to Division street, and that paid improvements be made according <br />to plans and specifications hereafter to be furnished by the city en- <br />gineer; that the curbing shall be of stone; that the guttering and <br />paving shall be made of bois d'arc blocks six inches long set on an <br />inch board, and that the same shall be done under the direction? <br />supervision and control of the city engineer. <br />SEC. 2. That the cost of such improvement on Grand <br />Avenue shall be borne by the property owners owning and front- <br />ing on said street, between said points, in proportion to the <br />number of front or abutting feet so owned and by the street car <br />company, using and occupying said street in proportion to the <br />number of square yards occupied by such street car company be- <br />tween said points, and the city of Paris shall pay for the improv- <br />ing of all street crossings on said street so improved. <br />SEC. 3, Be it further ordered, that each property owner and <br />street car company so lillble for such improvement have ten years <br />in which to pay the same; that is to say, each property owner and <br />street car company shall pay annually one-tenth of the whole prin- <br />cipal and six per cent. inter~st on the whole' amount of principal <br />unpaid until the whole is paid off, and when the said improve- <br />ments are made the prorate share of the cost of the improvements <br />done by each property owner shall be assessed against and shall <br />be a lien and incumbrance on the lot or lots, or block fronting or <br /> <br />,. <br />
