<br /> <br />80 <br /> <br />Sidewalks. <br /> <br /> <br />CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN. <br /> <br />SIDEWALKS. <br /> <br />AN' ORDIN ANCE rep;uIating the building of sidewalks. <br /> <br />Be it ordained by the city council of the city of Paris: <br /> <br />SEC. 1. That it is hereby made the duty of every person, cor- <br /> <br />poration, firm, or association of persons, owning property front~ <br /> <br />ing on any street or avenue, in the city of Paris, to grade and build <br /> <br />sidewalks in front of their property at their own expense, when <br /> <br />notofied so to do according to the provisions of this ordinance, and <br /> <br />such sidewalks shall be built of such material and of such dimen- <br /> <br />sions as may be required by the city council, under the st.¡pervis- <br /> <br />ion of the city engineer and according to the grade established and <br /> <br />furnished by the engineer. <br /> <br />SEC. 2. Whenever the city council determines and requires <br /> <br />by ordinance that sidewalks shall be built upon any street, or <br /> <br />streets, naming them in the ordinance, or that sidewalks shall be <br /> <br />built upon any part of any street, such ordinance shall be pub- <br /> <br />lished in an issue of the official paper, and such publication shall <br /> <br />be notice to all property owners fronting on sur.h street, 'or streets, <br /> <br />or part of streets, to build the sidewalk required therein. In ad- <br /> <br />dition to the above notice the city secretary shall issue a personal <br /> <br />notice to the owner or owners of each lot or tract of land fro,nting <br /> <br />on the street, or part of street, upon which the sidewalk is, to be <br /> <br />built, notifying them that such sidewalk has been determined upon <br /> <br />by the city council, and the character of material to be used and width <br /> <br />of the sidewalks, and that the work must be commenced within <br /> <br />ten days and completed within thirty days after the service of <br /> <br />notice. The following form of notice may be used, and shall be <br /> <br />sufficient when used: <br /> <br />Office of City Secretary, Paris, Texas, 188-. <br />M-, you are hereby notified that the cíty council of the <br />city of Paris, on the - day of -, 188-, passed an ordi- <br />nance requiring sidewalks to be built on - street, (or parts <br />of street, de¡¡cribing the part) the sidewalk in front of your prop- <br />erty is to be built of -( naming the material) and is to be - <br />feet wide. You are required to begin the work of building such <br /> <br />
