Comprehensive Plan, City of Paris, Texas
Future Land Use
The number of driveways accessing undivided arterial roadways should be minimized. The
following standards in Table 5.5 are based on AASHTO standards and the Institute of
Transportation En~ineers (ITE) Manual.
Corner Clearance
Specific minimum corner clearance guidelines are listed in Figure 5.1. These guidelines can be
used to regulate new commercial developments located along arterial or collector streets.
Figure 5.1
CORNER CLEARANCE GUIDELINES
~ C
E
-___1 ff~
Minimum Comer Clearances'
Functional Classification of Road
Item
Arterial
Collector
Local
A
230
175
50
B
115
85
50
C
230
175
50
D
230
175
50
E
75
0
0
(a) Signalized intersection control
F LC_'-J l.~
~K-
Minimum Corner Clearances•
Functional Classification of Road
Item
Arterial
Collector
Local
F
115
75
50
G
]15
85
50
H
85
85
50
J
115
75
50
K
75
0
0
(b) Non-signalized intersection control
Major Street Improvement Projects
There are a number of major street improvements identified in the Paris Comprehensive Plan
process that need to be considered in the context of the Major Street Plan implementation. They
are described as follows:
lst Street NW (from N. Main St to Graham Ave.): This is the remaining roadway in the
couplet system around the downtown area. The City apparently already owns a majority of
the property that will be required to build this project. The need for this project is great
now that the central fire station has been relocated to North Main Street, and fire trucks
have to negotiate the double 90-degree turn to pass into the City square.
S:\98285\WPC1Fina1 rcpon 2-01.doc 42 BWR
