G. JOINT TRF.11TP4EIJT : <br />Where joints are more than 1/2 inch deep, re-grou'king the <br />joint may be necessaxy, or back-up material may be used to <br />control the depth of joint, and enable the sealant to be in- <br />stalled under pressure. <br />Al1 joints shall be primed, if necessary with a thin coating <br />of primer apglied with a small brush. <br />1. Back-up Material shall be polyethylene foam rod stock, <br />or as otherwise recommended by the caulking manufacturer. Rope <br />shall be 1/8 inch larger in diaiaeter than thespace to be filled <br />and must be free from oils, solvents, or bituminous materials. <br />H. APPLICATIOI3 OF CAULKIidG MATERIAL: <br />After joints have been cleaned, re-grouted, and back-up <br />material installed where needed, the joint shall be filled with <br />caulking material using a hand caulking gun, or a pressure gun. <br />Tool the joint surface to compress the compour-A into the joint, <br />thereby assuring comglete contact with the surface to be sealed. <br />Tooling without the aid of a slicking agent is preferreu. <br />However, should conditions require a slicking agent, the use of <br />clean water, and Tolune or Xylene will be permittecl. <br />TS-7 <br />
