Failure to correct these causes of masonry deterioration will result in <br /> continued damage to the masonry and wasted effort. Any rework made necessary by <br /> Contractors' failure to confirm correction of all water intrusion prior to commencing <br /> work shall be carried out at contractor's sole expense. <br /> <br /> B. Prior to commencing work, identify and confirm with Construction Manager the <br /> completion of all masonry repointing. <br /> <br /> C. Verify areas which require cleaning and confirm extent with Construction Manager. <br /> Limit cleaning to those areas which are discolored. Only masonry which exhibits <br /> severe discoloration or graffiti disfigurement shall be cleaned - masonry which <br /> exhibits minor to moderate discoloration shall not be subjected to cleaning. <br /> <br /> D. Health and Safety Considerations: Prepare safety procedures for usage of cleaning <br /> solutions in strict conformance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) available <br /> from product manufacturers. Identify all hazardous components and assure that the <br /> least hazardous, but most effective, products are utilized in a safe manner. Conform <br /> with all applicable federal, state and local health and safety regulations. Provide all <br /> necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to face <br /> shields, safety glasses, chemical resistant gloves, facemasks with respirators, and full <br /> protective clothing with independent air supply. Smoking and open flames are <br /> expressly forbidden from work areas. Take all precautions as necessary to protect the <br /> health and safety of other workers and the public at large. <br /> <br /> E. Solvent residue, used swabs or rags, cloths, overalls and all other solvent <br /> contaminated items must be safely and legally disposed of daily in conformance with <br /> federal, state and local regulations. Provide explosion-proof fittings for electrical <br /> equipment as required. <br /> <br /> F. Contractor shall monitor and control all potentially hazardous situations to workers <br /> and non-workers. <br /> <br /> G. Contractor shall exercise maximum care in placement of equipment, ladders, <br /> scaffolding, etc., as required to avoid collateral damage to the building.
