Discard units of new material which are unsound, warped, knotted, bowed, twisted, <br /> improperly treated, not adequately seasoned or too small to fabricate work with <br /> minimum of joints or optimum jointing .arrangements, or which are of defective <br /> manufacture with respect to sm'faces, s~zes or patterns. <br /> <br /> B. Install the work plumb, level, uue and straight with no distortions. Shim as required <br /> using concealed shims. Install to a tolerance of I/8" in 8'-0" for plumb and <br /> level countertops; and with 1/16" maximum offset in flush adjoining 1/8" <br /> maximum offsets in revealed adjoining surfaces. <br /> <br /> C. Scribe and cut work to fit adjoining work, and refinish cut surfaces or repair damaged <br /> finish at cuts. <br /> <br /> D. Siding and wainscotting shall have mitered joints at outside comers. <br /> <br /> E. Anchor finish carpenay work to anchorage devices or blocking bnilt-in or directly <br /> a~aehed to subs~rates. Secure to grounds, stripping and blocking with <br /> countersunk, concealed fasteners and blind nailing as required for a complete <br /> installation. Except where prefmished matching fasteners heads are required, use <br /> fine finishing nails for exposed nailings, countersunk and filled flush with <br /> finished surface, and matching final finish where mmsparent is indicated. <br /> <br /> G. Exterior Standing and Running Trim: Install replacement trim as required for wood restoration <br /> with minimum number of joints possible, using full-length pieces (from maximum <br /> length of lumber available) to the greatest extent possible. Stagger Joints in adjacent <br /> and related members. Cope at returns, miter at comers, to produce tight fitting joints <br /> with full surface contact throughout length of joint. Use scarf joints for end-to-end joints. <br /> <br /> 1. Make exterior joints water-resistant by careful fitting. <br /> <br /> 3.03 ADJUSTMENT, CLEANING, FINISHING AND PROTECTION: <br /> <br /> A. Repair damaged and defective finish carpentry work to eliminate defects functionally <br /> and visually; where not possible to repair properly, replace woodwork. <br /> Adjust joinery for uniform appearance. <br /> <br /> B. Clean finish carpen~ work on exposed and semi-exposed surfaces. Touch up shop- <br /> applied finishes to restore damaged or soiled areas. <br /> <br /> C. Refer to Section 9900 Painting for final finishing of installed finish carpentry work. <br /> <br /> D.
