Demolition: In replacement and repair areas, as designate by the results of the Contractor's <br /> inspection and as indicated on the Drawings, or as directed by the Construction Manager, <br /> remove all damaged substrate. <br /> <br /> C. Replace all damaged, rotted or otherwise inadequate wood decking and supporting roof <br /> structure. <br /> <br />3.05 INSTALLATION OF ROOFING FELT: <br /> <br /> A. Do not begin installation of roofing felt until inspection of substrate repair by Construction <br /> Manager. <br /> <br /> B. Install roofing felt according to manufacturer's recommendations and industry standards. <br /> <br />3.06 FLASHING, G~RS & DOWNSPOUTS: <br /> <br />See SECTION 07600 - FLASHINGS & SHEET METAL. <br /> <br />3.07 TILE INSTALLATION <br /> <br /> A. Do not begin installation of roof tile until inspection of flashing, gutter and downspout <br /> installation by Constmodon Manager. <br /> <br /> B. Install new battens utilizing same methodology and configuration as original battens. <br /> <br /> C. Lay tiles beginning with first course of "birdstop" tiles at eaves, talcing care that tiles <br /> overlap the gutter system by at least 2" or as necessary to ensure that rainwater discharges <br /> into the central portion of the gutter. Intersperse replica tiles with original tiles as directed <br /> by Construction Manager so as to yield a uniform appearance. <br /> <br /> D. After fitting of first course, examine from ground level and make final adjustments for <br /> straightness. Do not proceed with successive courses until all adjustments are made. <br /> <br /> E. Proceed with installation of successive courses, utilizing same wire/nail fastening system as <br /> original installation. <br /> <br /> F. Ridge and hip tile joints shall be sealed with flexible copper flashing. <br /> <br /> G. All work (materials, methodology, etc.) must be in accordance with National Parks <br /> Service Technical Bulletins and Preservation Briefs for historic rehabilitation of historic <br /> tile roofs and historic roofing. <br /> <br />3.08 PROTECTION AND CLEAN-UP <br /> <br /> A. Protection: Protect adjacent surfaces and work of other trades against damage from roofing <br /> work. Correct any damage by cleaning, repairing or, and replacing in-kind, as acceptable <br /> to Construction Manager. Take all necessary precautions required to protect adjacent <br /> finishes. At the completion of work of other trades, touch-up and restore all damaged or <br /> defaced roof tiles. <br /> <br /> Section 07200 <br /> Page 4-5 <br /> <br /> <br />
