Acceptable manufacturers include: Marvin, Kolbe & Kolbe, EFCO or other custom <br /> door fabricators capable of meeting the quality standards and product warranty <br /> requirements contained herein. <br /> <br /> 2. Clear VG Red Fir or Douglas Fir, kiln dried to maximum 19% moisture content, <br /> solid one-piece stiles, rails, stops and frames. <br /> <br /> 3. Stiles and rails shall be mortised and/or doweled and well glued with Type I <br /> adhesive, and clamped together under pressure. Center rail shall be joined to <br /> stiles in a substantial manner, with dowels or appropriately sized biscuits, so that <br /> boring for locksets shall not weaken the joint at this point. <br /> <br /> 4. Doors shall be in-kind replicas of existing door designs or new, non-replica doors <br /> as shown on Drawings, with respect to form, appearance and method of <br /> construction, unless specified differently herein. <br /> <br />2.02 DOOR SHOP-PRIMING: <br /> <br />A. Before delivery of doors to project site, shop-prime as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. Prime doors shown or scheduled for painted finishes with finish paint <br /> compatible primer as specified in Division-9 "Painting" sections of these <br /> specifications. <br /> <br />2.03 PRESERVATIVE TREATMENT FOR NEW DOORS: <br /> <br /> A. All new and new-replica doors shall be treated after manufacture by the immersion <br /> treaanent for a period of 15 minutes in water repellent preservative in accordance with <br /> the requirements of the National Woodwork Manufacturer's Association <br /> (NWMA) Industry Standard I.S. 4. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 GENERAL FABRICATION REQUIREMENTS: <br /> <br /> A. Existing Doors: <br /> <br /> 1. Restore all existing doors and related components, including all door openings, <br /> jambs, heads, threshes, and trim, according to Section 6700 Wood Restoration and <br /> Section 7900 Sealants pertaining to use of wood consolidators, and the National <br /> Park Service Technical Bulletins. <br /> <br /> 2. Hand scrape and sand doors as specified in Section 9900 Painting. Do not <br /> chemically strip or dip to remove existing finish. Do not use mechanical or non- <br /> mechanical wire brush paint scrapers. Remove all excess materials, fill all existing <br /> borings and holes.
