Rejuvenate all weathered wood prior to repainting with wood rejuvenation solution <br /> specified above. Surfaces must be completely dry prior to repainting. <br /> <br /> D. Pre-Priming: Scrape and clean small, dry, seasoned knots and apply a thin <br /> coat of white shellac or other recommended knot sealer, before application of <br /> priming coat. After priming, fill holes and imperfections in finish surfaces <br /> with putty or compatible wood-filler. Sandpaper smooth when dried. <br /> <br /> E. Priming: <br /> <br /> 1. Prime, stain, or seal wood required to be job-painted immediately upon <br /> delive~ to job. Prime edges, ends, faces, undersides, and backsides <br /> of such wood, including cabinets. <br /> <br /> 2. When stain finish is required, use same paint material for back- <br /> priming. <br /> <br /> 3. Seal tops, bottoms, and cut-outs of un-primed wood doors with a heavy <br /> coat of sealer immediately upon delivery to job. <br /> <br /> F. Staining: <br /> <br /> 1. All surfaces scheduled to receive stain shall be surface sanded to a satin <br /> smooth finish. All gouges, scratches or other surface imperfections shall be <br /> filled with compatible linseed oil wood filler and sanded satin smooth. <br /> <br /> 2. Remove all dust and grit prior to beginning stai ning and varnishing. <br /> <br /> 3. All surfaces shall be sanded smooth with 30© grit sandpaper between each <br /> coat of stain and/or varnish. <br /> <br /> O. Ferrous Metals: Clean ferrous surfaces, which are not galv~mized or shop-coated, <br /> of oil, grease, dirt, loose mill scale and other foreign substances by solvent or <br /> mechanical cleaning. <br /> <br /> I. Touch-up shop-applied prime coats wherever damaged or bare, where <br /> required by other sections of this PROJ~CTMANUAL Clean and <br /> touch-up with same type shop primer. <br /> <br /> H.
