Paris Santa Fe-Frisco Depot Rehabilitation O KEYSTONE ARCHITECTS
July 10, 2001

3.05 APPLICATION

A. General: Apply plaster as required to replicate in-kind existing plaster or to patch
and match existing plaster as specified herein and as shown on Drawings. Use
applicators and techniques best suited for substrate and type of material being
applied, as indicated herein and on Drawings.

B. Scheduling: Do not commence plaster application until Field Samples,
substrate preparation, and identified areas to be patched and matched have been
approved by Construction Manager.

C. Patching & Matching: Patching and matching of existing plaster finishes will be
carried out as follows:

1. Hairline Surface Cracks: Fill with "high gauge" lime putty, comprised of
50% lime + 50% gauging plaster or drywall joint compound. Fill and
feather. Sand smooth.

2. Small Open Surface Cracks: Widen crack slightly with crack widener.
Fill partially with drywall joint compound. Bridge gap with fiberglass
mesh tape pressed into the patching compound. After compound is dry,
cover tape with second coat of drywall compound, feathering at edges.
After drying, apply third coat to even out surface, followed by light
sanding. After dry remove plaster residue with damp sponge.

3. Large Cracks: Confirm completion of structural repairs prior to
commencing work. Remove plaster on each side of crack to yield a total
width of 6 inches down to the lath. Feather edges to expose all three
existing layers of plaster system. Clean out debris, attach metal lath to
existing wood lath with wire ties. Proceed to patch with three coat plaster
system as specified.

4. Delaminated Finish Coat: Where finish coat of plaster has separated from
base coat, coat affected area with liquid plaster bonding agent. Patch with
finish coat and sand smooth.

Section 09910

Page 5-7
