Paris Santa Fe-Fdsco Depot Rehabilitation © KEYSTONE ARCHITECTS
July 10, 2001

3.02 TESTING & ANALYSIS

A. Analysis of existing plaster finishes has been conducted in order to identify the
plaster type(s), primary ingredients and their proportions and method of
formulation and application. The full results of this analysis are to be found in
Appendix A. Contractor will allot adequate time and resources to field test
proposed formula(s) and adjust formulas as necessary to achieve a good visual
and functional match with historic plaster finishes.. This field testing and
adjustment will require considerable trial and error and preparation of field
samples and test patches. Contractor shall commit adequate time and resources
to conduct this work at no additional cost to Owner.

3.03 SURFACE PREPARATION

A. Demolition: Plaster demolition shall be limited to the removal of damaged, loose,
deteriorated plaster and lath. Contractor shall make every effort to preserve
existing sound areas of plaster. Identify such areas and notify Construction
Manager to confirm that such areas shall be repaired through patching and
matching rather than removal and replacement.

B. Verify that substrate is clean and free of dirt and grit to insure maximum
bonding between plaster and substrate. Areas to be patched should be cleaned of
all debris with a bristle brush and all plant growth, dirt, oil or grease removed.

3.04 MATERIALS PREPARATION

A. Field mix and prepare materials as required by custom plaster formula provided
herein.

B. Store materials not in actual use in tightly covered containers. Maintain
containers used in storage, mixing and application of plaster in clean condition,
free of foreign materials and residue.

Section 09910
Page 4-7
