e <br /> <br />.4. <br /> <br />Planning and Zoning Meeting <br />October 3, 2001 .. <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />There was no opposition, the public hearing was declared closed. <br /> <br />Consideration of and action on the petition of Jerome Chapman for a <br />change in zoning from a Two-Family Dwelling District (2F) to a <br />Neighborhood Service District (NS), Lot 1, City Block 227, being <br />number 1707 Pine Bluff. <br /> <br />Motion was made to approve by Louis Yates and seconded Barbara <br />Forrest. Motion carried by a vote of 6 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Public Hearing to consider the petition of Watson Malcom for a change <br />in zoning from a One-Family Dwelling District No. 2 (SF-2) to a One- <br />Family Dwelling District No. 2 (SF-2) With Specific Use Permit (25) Day <br />Care Center, Lot 24, Block 4, Mayer Addition, being number 3230 <br />Bonham Street. <br /> <br />The public hearing was declared open. <br /> <br />Steve Walker, attorney for Watson Malcom,'stated that the Malcom's <br />presently operate a day care center named A to Z which they keep 12 <br />children. They would like to keep more. Mr. Walker stated that there <br />are numerous Commercial type businesses in the area and he thought <br />Bonham Street was moving towards Commercial zoning and that a <br />larger day care should be allowed. <br /> <br />Betty Hindman, 3405 Bonham, spoke in opposition to the petition <br />stating that people live in homes in the area and these are homes where <br />the people live not operate businesses. Ms. Hindman presented a <br />petition with 23 neighbors opposing the change. <br /> <br />Brad Allen, 155 33rd NW, spoke in opposition to the specific use permit <br />expressing concerns regarding children getting into the street. <br /> <br />Clara Allen, 255 31st NW, stated that her neighborhood is quiet and she <br />wanted it to stay that way. <br /> <br /> <br />
