Special Council Meeting <br />October 15, 2012 <br />Page 2 <br />for the position and understood the Council would have to ratify the appointment according to <br />the Charter. Jesse James Freelen asked if he could address the Council and Mayor Hashmi <br />answered in the affirmative. Mr. Freelen said he had previously served on the Council and asked <br />City Council to consider hiring from within. Mr. Godwin said there were a lot of good <br />employees, but the fire department had morale issues and that was why he thought it was best at <br />this time to hire externally. Mayor Hashmi said he would go along with what the City Manager <br />wanted to do as long as the candidate met the qualifications. It was a consensus of the City <br />Council that Mr. Godwin hire the most qualified person for the position. <br />Adj ournment. <br />There being no further business, a Motion to adjourn was made by Council Member <br />Drake and was seconded by Council Member Lancaster.
