MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2012 <br />4:00 0'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Paul Denney, <br />Chairman at 4:00 p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: <br />Paul Denney <br />Britin Bostick <br />Douglas Cox <br />Lauri Redus <br />Ben Vaughan <br />B. The following members were absent: <br />David Stewart <br />Nancy Anderson <br />C. Also present Jeanna Scott, Historic Preservation Officer; Cheri Bedford, Main <br />Street Manager and Matt Frierson, Council Liaison. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (September 12, 2012) <br />Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Britin Bostick to approve the meeting <br />minutes for September l2, 2012. Motion carried 5-0. <br />3. Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition of George Ronald <br />Shannon Sr. to designate a Historic District Overlay (HD), on Lot 20, City Block 131, <br />being number 726 W. Sherman Street. <br />Public hearing was declared open. <br />A. The following individuals spoke in favor of the petition. <br />George Shannon Sr., 726 West Sherman Street, property owner, spoke in favor of <br />the petition. Mr. Shannon stated he has been in the house ten years and will be <br />restoring the house as close to original as possible. This house was a Latimer <br />house, built with square nails and high ceilings. <br />B. The following individual spoke in opposition to the petition. <br />Kenneth Grubbs, 332 7`�' Street S.W., property owner, spoke in opposition of the <br />petition. Mr. Grubbs asked if this change will affect the entire block, and will this <br />raise taxes on the property. Mr. Grubbs issued additional concerns about the <br />�1 <br />
