* MVBA will file foreclosure lawsuits on and sell vacant and abandoned property <br />regardless of the amount of taxes due. MVBA will seek direction from the City <br />Attorney in this effort. Tax Sales on vacant and abandoned property are an <br />important aspect of our collection program. <br />* MVBA will initiate tax warrants where appropriate to collect personal property <br />taxes due to The City. For details of our tax warrant procedure see Page 23 of <br />this proposal. <br />(7) Bankruptcy (See Page 17 of this Proposal) <br />* McCreary, Veselka, Bragg & Allen will vigorously pursue taxes due from <br />property owners who file bankruptcy. Michael Reed of the Austin office will <br />represent The City in bankruptcy proceedings. <br />* MVBA has a complete bankruptcy department within the Firm to file claims and <br />monitor the progress of all bankruptcies in which our clients are due taxes. The <br />Firm's attorneys are fully licensed in all the Federal Courts. <br />* After the proof of claim or administrative claim is filed, MVBA follows the <br />Bankruptcy proceedings closely. We regularly file objections and motions and <br />attend hearings in Bankruptcy Courts throughout the State to protect our clients' <br />taxes in Bankruptcy proceedings. <br />(8) Homestead Program <br />* McCreary, Veselka, Bragg & Allen will work closely with the City Attorney to <br />prepare properties for resale that are deemed to meet this program's guidelines <br />as directed by the City Attorney. <br />(9) Comprehensive Legal Representation and Educational Opportunities <br />* McCreary, Veselka, Bragg & Allen provides, for no additional compensation, <br />legal representation to our clients on all property tax issues. <br />* MVBA represents our clients in all litigation filed by property owners regarding <br />property taxes. <br />* We advise our clients on effective tax rate calculations, tax abatements, and tax <br />roll back petitions and elections. <br />* MVBA provides our clients with informative updates on tax litigation, attorney <br />general opinions, and legislation concerning all aspects of property taxation. <br />McCreary, Veselka, Bragg & Allen <br />7 <br />
