Legal Assistance <br />Although every effort is made to collect the outstanding delinquent taxes <br />through taxpayer notification, litigation remains the final effort of <br />collection. The firm utilizes every level of the court system to represent <br />the client in our collection efforts. <br />The District Courts aze the primary court used for suit filing because it is <br />onr fum provdes represe.ntW o the only court in which suits conceming real property can be filed. The County Courts At Law and the Justice of <br />the Peace Courts are utilized for the personal property suits not meeting <br />the jurisdictional requirements of the District Courts. <br />The firm has a sound and established track record in its litigation efforts. <br />Our firm will represent your District in all of its ad valorem tax lawsuits at <br />all levels of the court system. We are extremely proud of the number of <br />cases we have successfully litigated for ow clients at the appellate level. <br />The firm provides representation in all ad valorem taac lawsuits at no <br />additionai cost to the District. We believe that when you hire us, we are <br />providing a service to you, the client, and that service is representation in <br />all talc matters. <br />Opinions/Memorandums <br />As part of the firm's service to the District, we provide opinions regarding <br />any ad valorem tax problem. These opinions are generally in writing and <br />the fum wili follow the opinion with discussions with the Governing <br />Body, Administrators and/or Taac Office. In addition to requested opinions, <br />the firm has found it beneficial to advise the Clients of key judicial <br />decisions or topics of common concern. In these instances, the firm has <br />prepared informational letters or memorandums. <br />Eminent Domain ((ondemnation) <br />Upon receiving notice, the firm will file the appropriate pleading with <br />supportive affidavits in the condemnation hearing to establish the District's <br />lien in condemnation hearings. <br />An attomey from the firm will be present at the Commissioner's Hearing, <br />or any subsequent Hearings, if the proceeding is appealed, to protect the <br />interest of the District.
