Mr. Brannon pointed out that he has <br />background that encompasses almost all aspects of the development and <br />control around lakes. Mr. Brannon said the City of Paris chose his firm to do <br />this plan for Lake Crook, and he sees his roll as a facilitator. He said that he <br />is not going to tell the city what to do with Lake Crook, but what he hopes to <br />do is hear from citizens as to what they would like to see done. Mr. Brannon <br />said he would tell the City Council howto accomplish those goals within some <br />reasonable budget, and prepare a written report, which is due to the City <br />Council by the end of this year. <br />Mayor Pfiester declared the Public hearing open and called for those who wish <br />to speak regarding the development of the Lake Crook Master Plan. <br />Jerry Dudley, 300 Mansfield Road, Executive Office with the Maxey Rifleman <br />Gun Club, came forward. Mr. Dudley said for the past 15 years. He stated that <br />he has been associated with this club and the city has leased them a portion <br />of land on the southwest corner of Lake Crook where they established a <br />shooting range. He felt that the City has provided a valuable service to the <br />hunters and shooters in this area by providing that range forthem. Mr. Dudley <br />said their range is located just across the road from F. M. 79, and most of their <br />range is under water when they get a heavy rain and did not know how that <br />area would be for development, but currently they use the range quite <br />extensively. Mr. Dudley gave the City Council a copy of their shooting <br />programs for the year 2000 to give the City Council an idea of some of the <br />activities that they do carry on. Mr. Dudley said there is approximately 300 <br />members and gave the City Council a list of their members along with two <br />photographs showing some of the events at the club. Mr. Dudley stated that <br />they were concerned that some development may deny them the use of that <br />facility. He said they were certainly not against seeing development around <br />the lake in certain areas, but the major concern is their area. <br />Gary Vest, President of the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, <br />representing over 800 members, came forwarding telling the City Council that <br />the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce has listed the development of Lake <br />Crook as a priority of the community for the last three years. Mr. Vest said <br />when the Chamber of Commerce refers to this development, they desire a <br />balanced development of private residential and recreational area with public <br />access. Mr. Vest stated that it is the belief of the Chamber of Commerce that <br />
