Mr. Rothfuss said what they want to do is retain their lease <br />for five years and to continue to develop their club in zones 1 through 7. He <br />said they would like help with the trash clean-up because Caviness Road <br />presents a real problem for them being able to keep it clean and safe. Mr. <br />Rothfuss stated they try really hard to get the young people in Paris involved <br />in their club. Mr. Rothfuss said they support the Maxey Black Powder Rifle <br />Club which is located at Lake Crook. Mr. Rothfuss urged the City Council to <br />not build houses at Lake Crook. <br />Fred Morphew, 2765 Simpson, representing the Paris Skeet and Trap Club, <br />appeared before the City Council telling them that their club leases 75 acres <br />at Lake Crook. Mr. Morphew gave background information of their club and <br />information regarding the investment that they have put into this club. Mr. <br />Morphew said they support the development of the park area, but they want <br />to retain the property that they currently lease and keep it in its natural state. <br />Beverly Lewis, 910 North Collegiate Drive, was present stating that she was <br />speaking for herself and unofficially for members of the Northeast Texas <br />Audubon Society and the North Texas Birders' Club. Ms. Lewis said that there <br />is one point that has not been made tonight, that being the issue of quality of <br />life. Ms. Lewis said the quality of life in the City of Paris is excellent and one <br />of the reasons for that is because they are very fortunate to have a lake within <br />our city property that is just beginning to be developed again and can reach <br />the potential it had a number of years ago when it was "the" place to go. She <br />said not only did it serve picnickers and families, it served fishermen, boaters, <br />bike riders and other types of people from the general populous who enjoyed <br />the amenities at Lake Crook. Ms. Lewis said restoration has begun forthe lake <br />and she would hate to see this come to a halt. Ms. Lewis said she would like <br />to see it remain in its present state and be developed to the point where it <br />would be a number one source of recreation for all citizens and for those who <br />come in from other areas. <br />DeLoria Redus, 320 S. W 34t" Street, appeared before the City Council stating <br />that her husband, Lyndol Redus, was chairman of the Lake Crook Fishermen's <br />Association and he and other members were instrumental in getting the pier <br />restored at Lake Crook. Ms. Redus said it was Mr. Redus's dream to get <br />restrooms at the lake. Ms. Redus said Lake Crook is a landmark and <br />
