City Council Meeting <br />October 9, 2000 <br />Page 3 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2000-049 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS PROVIDING THAT <br />ORDINANCE NO. 97-041 WHICH GRANTED A FRANCHISE FOR ELECTRIC <br />SERVICE TO TEXAS UTILITIES ELECTRIC COMPANY BE EXTENDED FOR <br />A PERIOD OF SIX (6)MONTHS; PROVIDING FOR CONTINUED <br />COMPENSATION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR <br />CONFLICTS WITH OTHER ORDINANCES; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE, WAS PRESENTED. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bell, seconded by Councilman Plata, <br />for adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays, <br />Mayor Pfiester called for consideration of and action on bids received at <br />a public bid opening for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Paris <br />Santa Fe-Frisco Railroad Depot. <br />City Manager Malone advised the City Council that a grant has been <br />received from TxDOT in 1996 to rehabilitate the Paris Santa Fe-Frisco <br />Railroad Depot. City Manager Malone said that one bid was opened in <br />August, 2000, and was over our budget by more than $450,000.00. City <br />Manager Malone said the specifications are being revised and once he <br />received all the necessary approvals, the city will be going out for bids <br />again. City Manager Malone said it was his recommendation to reject the <br />bid received. <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Manning, seconded by Councilman <br />McCarthy, to reject the bid for rehabilitation of the Paris Santa Fe-Frisco <br />Railroad Depot. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Pfiester called for consideration of and action on a resolution <br />approving the City of Paris' participation in the Denton vs. TXU Utilities <br />Company, et al, case relating to delinquent franchise fees. <br />City Manager Malone advised the City Council that this item had been <br />previously tabled and a motion to bring it from the table was in order. <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Manning, seconded by Councilman <br />McCarthy, to bring the above item from the table. The motion carried 7 <br />
