MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL/ <br />REDISTRICTING COMMITTEE <br />August 14, 2001 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met in special session Tuesday, August 14, <br />2001, 6:00 P. M., Paris Junior College, Applied Technology Building, Room 1016, <br />2400 Clarksville Street, Paris, Texas. Mayor Michael J. Pfiester called the meeting <br />to order with the following Council Members present: John F. Bell, Joe E. <br />McCarthy, Richard Manning, Kevin Gray, John A. Carter, Jr. and Benny Plata. <br />Also present were citizen representatives Sue Fancher, Brady Fisher, Judy Stamper, <br />Dolores Stowe, Lucius Joe, Jr., and Philip Nance. City Manager Michael E. <br />Malone, City Attorney Larry W. Schenk, and City Clerk Mattie Cunningham were <br />also present. <br />Mayor Pfiester called for consideration of and action on a resolution appointing <br />citizens to the Council/Citizens Redistricting Advisory Committee and advised that <br />this item was tabled at the July 30, 2001 Special Meeting, and should the City <br />Council wish to consider this matter, a motion to bring this item from the table was <br />in order. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Carter, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, <br />to bring the above item from the table. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />A resolution resolving that the Council/Citizens Redistricting Advisory Committee <br />shall consist of fifteen members as follows: the seven (7) members of the City <br />Council; one (1) citizen from each of the seven (7) City Council districts, said <br />citizens being selected by the City Council Members for each respective district; <br />and one (1) citizen chosen at large by the Mayor, and further resolving that Lucius <br />Joe, Jr., as a citizen representative of District 1; Philip Nance, as a citizen <br />representative of District 3; Dolores Stowe, as a citizen representative of District <br />4; Judy Stamper, as a representative of District 6; Sue Fancher, as a citizen <br />representative of District 7; and Brady Fisher, as an at-large representative, be, and <br />they are hereby appointed to serve as citizen members of the Council/Citizens <br />
