Special Budget Wark Session - City Council
August 30, 2000
Page 8
the Health Department.
City Manager Malone said there were no changes in personnel in the Sewer
Maintenance Division of Public Works. City Manager Malone said there were
no significant changes in the general expenditures in this department. He said
in the capital outlay sewer mains have been raised $10,000.00 for replacement
of small sewer mains that the department is going to do in 1000 Block of 6th S.
E. Street from Cedar to Jackson - 800 feet of 6 inch sewer main, and the 900
Block of East Oak Street - 500 feet of 6 inch sewer main, and the 800 Block of
West Shiloh Street to Campbell - 8700 feet of 8 inch sewer main, and on
Dixon Avenue, 9th N. W. to 1 lth N. W. - 1,000 feet of 6 inch sewer main. City
Manager Malone said there is $2,000.00 for a new power saw.
Mayor Pfiester called for consideration and possible action on amendments to
the 2000-2001 budget.
City Attorney Schenk advised the City Council, suggesting they try to keep
their processes to a minimum with regard to the total number of ineetings that
they have to have. City Attorney Schenk said they have a window on
amendments that would allow the City to post notice, and the Paris News is
going accommodate the City for an item in Sunday's paper to post the
amendment part of the total public hearing process for the same day, which is
the 13th day of September. He said to do that, there is a draft resolution to read
which sets the public hearing on the 13th of September to follow the main
public hearings, but the point is, there is a need to have some idea of what the
total number of amendments are that the City Council would like to see put in
that notice for the purposes of that public hearing. City Attorney Schenk said
there are two amendments, one is $10,000.00 to support the Children's
Advocacy Center, and one for $5,000.00 to support NETCADA. The City
Manager advised that with regard to the storage building for the Fire
Department, there is time to look at it later and if there is a need for the
building, it can be paid for out of the CO's.
