Special Budget Wark Session August 29, 2000 Page 7 amount is $69,000.00 to purchase one 2001 model 3/4 pickup, one 2001 model one ton patching truck, and carried over money from 99-00 fiscal year to purchase two state surplus dump trucks at $18,000.00. City Manager Malone called the Council's attention to the proposed budget for the Traffic & Public Lighting Division of Public Works and stated that under personnel, the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor previously budgeted at 50% has been moved over to the Garage Division and the Solid Waste/Traffic Supervisor has been added to this budget. City Manager Malone said that under the general expenditures there are no major changes. He said there is one 3/4 ton pickup truck budgeted under the capital account in the amount of $21,000.00. The City Council discussed the need for all of the 3/4 ton pickups that have been requested with Terry Townsend, Director of Public Works, and requested that Mr. Townsend get figures for the 3/4 ton pickups vs. the % ton pickups and bring that information back to the City Council for consideration. City Manager Malone said that under the Garage Division of Public Works in capital outlay there has been budgeted $15,000.00 for 6 reel hose, a heavy duty transmission jack, two replacement jacks, computer electronic repair manuals, and diagnostic equipment for diesel engines. City Manager Malone advised the City Council one 3/4 ton pickup has also been budgeted for this division. Terry Townsend, Director of Public Works, came forward to explain the need for the 3/4 ton pickup. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Bell, seconded by Councilman Carter, to consider funding the North East Texas Alcohol and Drug Abuse in the amount of $5,000.00 and $10,000.00 for the Children's Advocacy Center in the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2000 - 2001.
