MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF PARIS <br />AUGUST 24, 2000 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, met in special session, <br />Monday, August 24, 2000, 5:00 P.M., Heritage Hall, 1009 West Kaufman <br />Street, Paris, Texas. Mayor Michael J. Pfiester called the meeting to order with <br />the following council members present: John F. Bell, Richard Manning, Joe E. <br />McCarthy, Kevin Gray, and Benny Plata. Also present were City Manager <br />Michael E. Malone, City Attorney Larry W. Schenk, and City Clerk Mattie <br />Cunningham. <br />Mayor Pfiester asked if there was anyone in the audience having business to <br />bring before the City Council not listed on the public agenda, to please let it be <br />known in order to make the information available to the City Council in <br />compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act. <br />Vickie Hime, 308 West Washington, came forward telling the City Council <br />that the crime watch of West Washington, 3rd Street S. W. and 4th Street S. W. <br />would like to submit a request for a change of a stop sign location at the <br />intersection of S.W. 3rd and West Washington. Ms. Hime said that this <br />intersection is very dangerous and they have a lot of problems with traffic going <br />from 7th Street all the way up to 1 st before they have to stop and that a lot of the <br />people miss the stop sign. <br />City Manager Malone advised that the city will take the request under <br />advisement and forward it to the Traffic Commission for their <br />recommendation, and then it will come back through the normal course of <br />business in their minutes with a recommendation to the City Council. City <br />Manager Malone advised that Ms. Hime will be notified of the time of the <br />Traffic Commission's meeting. <br />Invocation was given by Gene Anderson, Director of Finance for the City of <br />Paris. <br />Mayor Pfiester announced that City Manager Malone and Director of Finance <br />
