City Council Meeting
August 16, 2000
Page 13
from the S. E. Lift Station is pumped by pressure pipe right in front of the
Holiday Inn and when it comes out at that location, there is an odor. Mr.
Campbell said there is a request for a new fence around the FEB Pump Station,
which is a requirement of the TNRCC Rules, and the cost is $9, 800.00. A new
gas detector is also being requested.
Gene Anderson, Director of Finance, presented the budget for the Warehouse
Department, and told the City Council that it is identical to the year before, that
there is about $2,200.00 difference in the entire budget. Mr. Anderson said
that this is in the capital expenditures and it shows a couple of personal
computers and a printer.
Mr. Anderson also discussed the budget for the Water Billing and Collection
Department and stated that there were not a lot of changes in this department
from last year to this year. Mr. Anderson said that the Council might want to
do rate studies annually instead of every three years, in order to keep from
having a spike in the rates. Mr. Anderson advised that he did allow sufficient
money to update the most recent study if the City Council wanted to do this,
and he has allowed $30,000.00 for this expenditure. Mr. Anderson said on the
last page of this budget under capital expenditures is where most of the
difference is, other than for the Rate Consultant. Mr. Anderson said there were
replacement chairs and the Police Department did a security study for the water
office and recommended some additional changes to the system and he has
allowed $3,445.00 to do that. He said the high-speed printer that they have that
prints out all of their large reports went down this year and is not functioning
at all and can not be repaired, so he has place a replacement printer in this
budget along with a couple of replacement PC's, which is also needed. Mr.
Anderson said the largest item is an insert machine, which is a machine that
folds and stuffs the water bills.
A motion was made by Councilman Carter, seconded by Councilman
McCarthy, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
