City Council Meeting <br />December 11, 2000 <br />Page 3 <br />Resolution No. 2000-164, reaffirming the strong support of the City of Paris' <br />continued efforts of the Regional Controlled Substance Apprehensive Program <br />and the continuing efforts of the Tri-County Drug Task Force to target illicit <br />controlled substance and organized criminal activity, was presented. A motion <br />was made by Councilman Carter, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Manning, for <br />approval of the resolution. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2000-165, approving and authorizing a grant application to the <br />office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, Texas Narcotic Control <br />Program, for a Regional Controlled Substance Apprehension Program Grant <br />in the amount of $485,100.00, with the City of Paris providing $26,950.00 in <br />matching funds, and authorizing the execution of an interagency agreement, <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Plata, seconded by <br />Councilman McCarthy, for approval of the resolution. The motion carried 6 <br />ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2000-166, authorizing on behalf of the City of Paris a waiver of <br />eligibility to apply for a grant from the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block <br />Grant Program; designating Lamar County as the recipient of the City's share <br />of said grant, with the City of Paris participating in the Juvenile Crime <br />Enforcement Coalition created by Lamar County, and the Chief of the Paris <br />Police Department be, and he is hereby appointed to serve as the <br />representative of the City of Paris on the Lamar County Juvenile Crime <br />Enforcement Coalition, was presented. A motion was made by Councilman <br />Plata, seconded by Councilman McCarthy, for approval of the resolution. The <br />motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2000-167, approving and authorizing a grant application to the <br />Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, through the Ark-Tex Council <br />of Governments, for a Violence Against Women Act Grant in the approximate <br />amount of $79,000.00, with the City of Paris providing approximately <br />$27,000.00 in the form of in-kind services, and appointing the City Manager as <br />the Authorized Official of said project and is hereby authorized and directed <br />to execute the application, was presented. A motion was made by Councilman <br />Carter, seconded by Councilman Bell, for approval of the resolution.
