Government Code - CHAPTER 2303 <br />§ 2303.303. Membership; Voting <br />Page 12 of 28 <br />(a) The membership of a neighborhood enterprise association may be composed only of residents of <br />the enterprise zone. <br />(b) An individual is entitled to be a member of a neighborhood enterprise association if the individual <br />is <br />(1) a resident of the association's geographic neighborhood area; and <br />(2) of voting age. <br />(c) To be entitled to vote, a member of the association must have been a resident of the association's <br />neighborhood area for at least one year. <br />Added by Acts 1993, 73rd Leg., ch. 268, § 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1993. <br />§ 2303.304. Powers of Neighborhood Enterprise Associations <br />(a) A neighborhood enterprise association may purchase or lease publicly or privately owned real <br />property. <br />(b) A neighborhood enterprise association with the approval of and in coordination with the <br />responsible state or local governmental entity may: <br />(1) establish crime watch patrols in the association's geographic neighborhood area; <br />(2) establish volunteer day-care centers; <br />(3) organize recreational activities for the association's geographic neighborhood area youth; <br />(4) provide garbage collection; <br />(5) maintain and improve streets, bridges, and water and sewer lines; <br />(6) provide energy conservation proj ects; <br />(7) provide health and clinic services; <br />(8) provide drug abuse programs; <br />(9) provide senior citizen assistance programs; <br />(10) maintain parks; <br />(11) rehabilitate, renovate, operate, or maintain low or moderate income housing; and <br />(12) provide other types of public services as authorized by law or rule. <br />://www.capitol.state.tx.us/statutes/go/go230300.html 1/12/2002 <br />
