WHEREAS, the Commissioners Court of Lamar County, by and through the Honorable <br />M. C. Superville, County Judge, has requestgd the Ciry, on behalf of Lamar County, to act <br />favorably on the request of the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross for transfer of <br />the aforesaid surplus vehicle to be used as a disaster relief vehicle by the Red Cross; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has authorized payment of the remaining value of the uade- <br />in after the adjustment for the $5,000.00 contributed by the Red Cross, or $10,503.00, to be paid <br />pursuant to the County's current contract with the City of Pazis for ambulance service, whereby <br />Lamar County pays forty percent (40%) and the Ciry of Paris pays sixty percent (60%) of the <br />unreimbursed cost of the expenses of said ambulance service; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Red Cross has indicated such a disaster vehicle would be used to treat <br />local victims of the city and the county in a disaster; would be used as a canteen to serve food, <br />provide blankets, and other basic necessities during a disaster; would be used in the city and the <br />county as a first aid station for a variety of community purposes; and would be used to replace an <br />existing disaster vehicle currently in a state of disrepair; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the transfer of said surplus vehicle <br />to the Lamaz County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the purposes to which it would be <br />utilized as a disaster relief vehicle, constitute a public purpose and use to the betterment of the <br />public health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the city of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br />5ection 2. That a model year 1997 Ford F350 Type 1 Ambulance, Vehicle Identification <br />Number IFDKF3FOVEBI8087, currently designated by the City EMS Service as Medic 4, <br />because of its age, mileage, general condition, and extensive use, shall be and is hereby designated <br />as obsolescent and surplus property no longer appropriate for use as an ambulance by the City of <br />Paris EM5 Ambulance Service. <br />Section 3. That [he offer of a$5,000.00 contribution by the Lamar County Chap[er of the <br />American Red Cross to defray a portion of the value of the Medic 4 ambulance as a trade-in <br />towards the purchase of a new ambulance is hereby accepted. <br />Section 4. That the request of Lamar Counry for the City to transfer said ambulance to <br />the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross is hereby approved, and the City Council <br />hereby directs that the remaining value of said ambulance as a trade-in, after contribution by the <br />Red Cross, that is, $10,503.00, shall be paid pursuant to and in accordance with the County's <br />current contract with the Ciry of Paris whereby Lamar County pays forry percent (40%) and the <br />City of Paris pays sixty percent (60%) of the unreimbursed expense of operating the emergency <br />ambulance service. <br />
